The Carnival of Viareggio
Since 1873, art, history, culture, tradition, and entertainment: the Carnival of Viareggio returns in style each February. Get ready for an entire month of celebrations following the wishes and reflections that the artists of Carnival will interpret in the form of large papier-mâché works.
The Viareggio Carnival parades, also known as Masquerade Circuits, will move along the seafront with the traditional award ceremony for the most beautiful float with an unmissable fireworks display.
There will also be fun in the neighborhoods that come alive with outdoor parties. You can dance freely in masks and also enjoy meals to delight yourself with the typical dishes of the Viareggio tradition. That’s not all: the historic buildings in the city will host art exhibitions to tell the story and traditions of the Carnival.
