Spring and autumn inspiration

Fairs in Slovakia are absolutely amazing traditional, centuries-old events combining cultural and gastronomic customs. These authentic celebrations hold firm dates on the calendar and are organized according to the tourist season. Spring and autumn are the seasons when the Slovak fairs, with their unique tastes and colors and the pride of local producers, attract local and international visitors.

Let’s dive into the world of Slovak fairs, starting with the incredible Radvaň Fair, also known as the “fair of all fairs”.  Every autumn, the square in Banská Bystrica comes alive with the vibrant energy of tradition when local craftsmen and producers line the streets with their unique creations. The square is awash with the aromas of delicious food and the sounds of folk music virtuosos. Mark your calendars for September 11-14, 2025 — it’s going to be an unforgettable experience!  Folk craftspeople are regularly invited to the capital city of Bratislava for the largest urban festival of traditional Slovak crafts, called the Days of ÚĽUV Masters. This rich historical legacy is not just a festival, it’s part of the course of study at the ÚĽUV (ÚĽUV School of Handicrafts). Its cultural and social significance are reinforced by its inclusion on the UNESCO list of good practices for the protection of intangible cultural heritage. Mark your calendar for September 2025!

The autumn palate of flavors in Slovakia is simply stunning, and wine is its main highlight.  Slovak wines have their own niche on the wine map; a whole new world of wines with a variety of exceptional characteristics and surprising notes.

On your wine journey, the town of Modra in the Little Carpathian welcomes you for a traditional celebration of this inspiring drink —  the Modra Wine Festival.  Autumn days in this picturesque town are a feast with a varied program, fantastic food, hospitable locals and most importantly, a glass of wine in hand. Don’t miss out on this incredible experience!

Rača Vintage is a popular festival and a celebration of the flavors of autumn. The legendary, charmingly rural wine village of Rača is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the vibrant capital city.  The Pezinok wine harvest welcomes visitors to this amazing wine-growing town in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. The charming town of Pezinok is set to offer the finest wines in autumn 2025, perfectly paired with local delicacies and an unforgettable atmosphere.

A Slovakian wine tour wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the beautiful southeastern region of Slovakia, where the unique Tokaj wine is produced — a wine with a protected designation of origin and a gem to include in your wine experience. Plan your visit for September 2025 so you can enjoy Tokaj Cellars’ Open Day, which celebrates winemaking and the beauty of this region.
