Embark on an itinerary that combines iconic names and lesser-known places, offering a deeper, more nuanced experience of Slovenia, beyond its most visited landmarks.
Begin in Ptuj, Slovenia’s oldest town, where Roman origins and vibrant traditions shape a rich cultural atmosphere. Continue to Celje, once the seat of a powerful dynasty, and then to Šentjur and Slovenske Konjice, where the landscape gradually softens into vineyards and rural charm.

The route then leads into the Alpine and pre-Alpine world: Jesenice opens a chapter about the ironworking heritage and dramatic mountain scenery, while nearby Radovljica shows travelers a more intimate atmosphere of preserved facades, beekeeping traditions, and sweet culinary heritage. Continue to Tržič, where craftsmanship and industrial history still define the town’s character, before moving on to Škofja Loka, one of Slovenia’s most beautifully preserved medieval centers and home to the Škofja Loka Passion Play, a UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage. Thence the journey continues to Kranj, with layers of history above and below ground, and to Kamnik, where a charming old town unfolds beneath the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
Further north, Slovenj Gradec and Ravne na Koroškem blend cultural heritage and contemporary creativity, often overlooked yet rewarding for curious travelers. The journey ends by the sea, where Piran and Koper bring a Mediterranean dimension of, Venetian architecture and coastal life.
