Experience solo travel with ease

Do you want to travel alone? Do you want to take some time for yourself and visit destinations that you have been planning to visit for years? Do you want the choice of destination and type of vacation to be yours alone? In Serbia, you will find places that are real safe havens.

Serbia is a safe place, a multinational and multiconfessional country where there are no religious prejudices or cultural restrictions. You will be welcomed everywhere, and hospitable Serbs will be happy to answer your questions, especially in cities where almost everyone speaks English.

One of the destinations in Serbia that we recommend to solo travelers is the city of Novi Sad and its surroundings. Less than 100 km from the capital, Belgrade, Novi Sad is known for its relaxed atmosphere, museums, galleries, and the Petrovaradin Fortress.

You must be sure to visit the museums that preserve the cultural and historical heritage of this city on the banks of the Danube, from the Matica Srpska Gallery through the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection to the Fortress built in the 18th century.

After being inspired by art and heritage, have a well-deserved rest and lunch with Vojvodina’s dishes in one of the traditional restaurants in the city center or at the čarda (restaurants by the river), where you can taste the famous fish stews.

While you are in the city center, we draw your attention to two women, just a sample  of the many exceptional women important in putting this city on the world map and in positioning women in the society of previous eras.

Mileva Marić-Einstein is one of the most famous women in science; she attended school and baptized her sons according to the Orthodox rite in 1913 at St. Nicholas Church in Novi Sad.

Equally important was Marija Trandafil, an important Serbian philanthropist who owned various buildings in the city center and paid for the reconstruction of the Armenian Church in Novi Sad, which unfortunately no longer exists.

Novi Sad from female perspective

For girls and women who love active vacations, we suggest going to Fruška Gora mountain and the first national park in Serbia. Marked hiking trails, horse riding and recreational adventure activities in the adventure center in Vrdnik will add dynamism to your vacation in Novi Sad.

If you prefer relaxation to an active holiday, Vrdnik Spa is in the very heart of Fruška Gora, with a wellness and spa program that will provide enjoyment and relaxation in thermal water.

To finish off your trip, the evening entertainment that Novi Sad is known for awaits. The music of Vojvodina tambourines, local rock and pop bands, as well as DJs, enhanced by the wines of the vineyards of Fruška gora, will make your stay in Novi Sad unique.
