Oases of wellness and relaxation
Piešťany: the Spa Island
A unique place created by Slovakia’s longest river, the Váh, and its tributaries, the island is now an integral part of Piešťany, a charming thermal spa town.
While the river created the island, Ľudovít Winter envisioned an oasis of health and relaxation, outstanding architecture, and cultural and sports events here. A world-famous popular healing destination since the late 19th century, why not experience it yourself?
How to get there
Piešťany town center is connected to Spa Island via the Promenade Bridge, an iconic highlight of functionalist architecture in Slovakia. The bridge is adorned with a statue of a man breaking a crutch ― the town’s emblem, which symbolizes the healing power of its spas. Enjoy beautiful riverside views from this stylish bridge.
Subterranean healing power
The island’s spa facilities treat musculoskeletal disorders. Unique natural healing resources, such as thermal mineral water and uniquely curative sulphur mud, are used for treatment. The island’s medical and hotel facilities offer spa procedures, art nouveau architecture, and attractive parkland—an ideal prescription for well-being.
Hole-in-one or ace?
Come to Spa Island and enjoy a wide range of sports. Follow up your treatments and wellness sessions by relaxing in the pretty gardens, teeing off on the golf course, or releasing your inner Federer on the tennis courts.
