Czechia, enchanting and uncrowded

Spring is the perfect time to wander in Czechia, when the country’s gardens bloom, rivers glisten, and towns reveal their quieter charms. From the peaceful corners of Prague to hidden castles and tranquil cities, there are countless ways to experience Czechia in its peaceful, spaciousness.

Prague without crowds

Even in the heart of Prague, you can find peaceful corners away from the crowds that let you enjoy the city at your own pace. Nový Svět (New World) is one such gem: a romantic street of historic houses, just a stone’s throw from Prague Castle, yet almost untouched by change. Here, you’ll see timbered cottages and houses with golden names, such as the House at the Golden Lamb; Stork; Grape; Sun, and more. The Golden Leg, where the famed astronomer Tycho Brahe once lived.

Prague is full of hidden havens. The Botanical Garden offers a serene oasis of themed gardens, quiet paths, and lush greenery. Nearby, Troja Chateau Gardens, Stromovka Park, and Vojan Park provide calm, reflective spaces perfect for a stroll or a coffee away from the crowds.

Pro tip: Visit the Convent of St. Agnes in Prague to enjoy both art and architecture.

Nature in Czechia

Beyond Prague, Czechia is home to natural treasures recognized by UNESCO for their outstanding universal value. The beech forests on the northern slopes of the Jizera Mountains in North Bohemia are among Europe’s last largely untouched mountain beech forests. Far from being isolated reserves, they form part of the wider Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe, a transnational network spanning around 100 sites across 12 countries, underscoring the rarity and significance of Europe’s remaining primeval woodlands.

Other peaceful spots include Křivoklátsko, with its dense forests and medieval castle; the calm waters of Slapy Reservoir; and the fishponds of Třeboň, ideal for cycling, birdwatching, and tasting freshly smoked carp. In the south, Podyjí and Vranov nad Dyjí offer scenic river valleys, vineyards, and castle ruins, while Czech Canada and Nové Hrady enchant visitors with flowering meadows, quiet forest trails, and hidden castles.

Tranquil cities: historic gems of Czechia

Spring in Czechia is the perfect season to enjoy culture, nature, and cuisine — with lots of space. For a tranquil spring escape, head to off-the-radar towns like Litomyšl, with its castle and blooming gardens; Telč, with pastel Renaissance squares and cobbled streets; Kroměříž, where the Archbishop’s Palace gardens are at their spring peak; Jindřichův Hradec, set among serene lakes and forests; or Mikulov, where quiet vineyards await.

Feel free as you explore the calm spring beauty of Czechia!
