Each autumn, the forests of the Ardennes host the red deer rutting season, known locally as the “Brâme du Cerf.” Guided walks give visitors the chance to hear and observe deer during mating season, while learning about forest ecosystems and wildlife management.
The experience takes place in protected landscapes and is supervised by local nature guides to limit disturbance to wildlife. Visitors are expected to follow guidance on distance, noise, group behavior, and access rules.
Participation is ticketed and requires advance booking, helping manage visitor numbers. Access varies by forest location; many sites are most easily reached by car, so visitors should check meeting points and transport options in advance.
