The Doudou Festival is an annual traditional celebration held in Mons and recognized by UNESCO as part of its intangible cultural heritage. The festival centers on the “Lumeçon,” a symbolic fight between Saint George and a dragon enacted in the main square. Parades, processions, and concerts fill the historic streets throughout the weekend.

The event blends religious traditions, folklore, and community participation. It is especially meaningful to local residents, as rituals have been passed down through generations.

Most activities take place in the city center and are free to attend. Mons is easily reached by direct train from Brussels.
