Sibiu, Romania: The heart of contemporary theatre
Each year, the world’s greatest theatre actors and their most adoring fans flock to the Romanian city of Sibiu for an extravaganza of the dramatic arts. Over ten days, renowned names from around the world perform at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, putting on some 550 events to guests who journey there from nearly 75 countries. But all that aside, who better to tell you about this remarkable event than one of the actors who will be on stage? Meet Iustinian, an actor from the Romanian National Theatre. Iustinian did an interview with our ambassador, Eric Gagnon, to share his past experiences at the Sibiu festival and his hopes for this year’s event.

According to Iustinian, one of the best parts of the Theatre Festival is that there’s something for everyone, for every taste. In fact, attendees will find such varied performances as gospel concerts, sometimes given by singers from the United States, dance theatre, and the circus. It’s truly a diverse gathering!
