The Võhandu River, one of the most scenic and challenging rivers in southern Estonia, hosts an international rowing marathon that begins early in the morning on Lake Tamula in Võru and finishes in Võõpsu in Põlva County.
Participants cover 100 km in a single day, taking on demanding conditions while moving through a striking natural landscape. Along the way, the river reveals views of ancient forests, open meadows and sandstone cliffs.
Seven water mills were once built along the river, and some of their remains can still be seen along the route.
