First held in 2012, the Skagen Ice Swimmers Festival was Denmark’s first event of its kind and has since become a popular annual tradition. Taking place on the last weekend of January, it highlights Skagen as a unique winter destination. The festival is organized by the Skagen Ice Swimmers Club “The Icebreakers” in collaboration with Turisthus Nord, with a strong focus on hospitality and nature experiences.

The highlight is the invigorating dip into the cold blue sea, taken directly from the beach. Many say the rush of endorphins brings a lasting sense of warmth and energy. Beyond sea plunges, the program includes guided outdoor tours, a walk to Grenen with hot cocoa, and an evening celebration with entertainment.

Set against Skagen’s striking coastal scenery, the festival blends adventure with a welcoming community atmosphere. From cold water dips and beach activities to bonfires and social gatherings, it offers a refreshing way to experience the Nordic winter tradition of sea bathing.
