Klaipėda, Lithuania’s laidback port city, is perfect for a quiet city break by the sea. But once a year, its streets are exceptionally full of hustle and bustle. First held back in 1934, Jūros šventė, or Sea Festival, is among Lithuania’s biggest and longest-running annual events.
The festival takes place on the last weekend of July and draws thousands of people to celebrate Lithuanian maritime traditions and the summer season. A spree of concerts, craft fairs, and performances, the event features everything from a colorful parade through the city’s streets to international sailing races.
