Each June, Rotterdam hosts Rotterdam Architecture Month, a citywide program dedicated to architecture, urban design and the future of the built environment. The event takes place in and around the city’s harbor areas, with a central festival site featuring exhibitions, talks, workshops and guided tours.
Visitors can explore Rotterdam’s distinctive architecture through walking tours, lectures, film screenings and installations. Architects, designers, students and residents come together to exchange ideas on how cities evolve and how buildings shape everyday life.
Known for its modern skyline and experimental approach, much of Rotterdam’s architecture developed after the city was rebuilt following World War II. The festival offers an opportunity to explore this history while also looking ahead to future developments.
Rotterdam Architecture Month takes place throughout June. Many outdoor exhibitions and installations are free to visit, while some talks and tours require a ticket. Main festival locations are easily accessible by public transportation from Rotterdam Central Station.
