The Midnight Sun Film Festival, one of the most unique film festivals in the world, has taken place in the small Lapland village of Sodankylä every June since 1986. Founded by Finnish directors Aki and Mika Kaurismäki and Anssi Mänttäri, the festival is built around a remarkable fact: in mid-June, the sun does not set above the Arctic Circle. Films are screened continuously, day and night, across multiple venues.
