In Madeira, spring is celebrated in full bloom with the Flower Festival, held every year after Easter.
Honoring the season and the abundance of flowers that thrive in Madeira’s subtropical climate, Funchal becomes the stage for a vibrant and colorful spectacle.
Festivities begin on Saturday, when thousands of children dressed for the occasion gather in Praça do Município to help create the “Wall of Hope” a mural made entirely of flowers.
The following day brings the Flower Parade, as dozens of floats decorated with the island’s most iconic blooms fill the streets with color and delicate fragrance. Throughout the city, local artists create intricate floral carpets displayed in public spaces, while competitions highlight the most beautifully decorated shop windows.
Experience spring at its most vibrant in Madeira.
