Located in southeastern Slovenia, Bela Krajina is known for its rich folk heritage, traditional white costumes, and well-preserved customs. At the heart of the festival are folklore groups from Slovenia and around the world, performing both on stage and in lively parades. The program also includes presentations of traditional customs, handicrafts, and music and dance rooted in folk culture. With international groups taking part each year, the festival highlights the diversity of traditions while creating a space for cultural exchange.
A special focus is placed on Jurjevanje, an ancient spring ritual celebrating the arrival of the season, which gives the festival its unique identity. The region is accessible by car and bus, and venues are within walking distance. Most events are free to attend.
