Pilsen, Not Just Beer

Most people know Pilsen as home of the world-famous Pilsner Urquell beer, but it offers much more! You’ll find several reinvented venues here where energy flows again and where people passionate about non-mainstream beauty and art of all kinds come together.

Art at the Bus Depot and Railway Station

One of Pilsen’s most original hubs? The creative zone on the site of the former bus depot. DEPO2015 was created in 2015 when Pilsen was the European Capital of Culture. Sit in a café, buy design pieces, or go to an exhibition, concert, theatre performance, film screening, festival, or workshop. Find more art here and throughout Pilsen at the annual  WALLZ street art festival

The historical, once-abandoned Pilsen railway station has been transformed into MOVING STATION, a space for theatrical, visual, musical, and multimedia projects. Enjoy the café, festivals, exhibitions, and workshops here; if you’re a creator yourself, you’ll be delighted with the open studio.

Ostrava, a city Jules Verne would Love

The moment you enter the historic ironworks in Ostrava, you’ll understand why we mention Jules Verne. Dolní Vítkovice has preserved its mystery…but don’t be fooled. It‘s full of life! Besides the Science & Technology Center, a lookout at the top of the blast furnace, and an agricultural museum, you’ll find two modern art galleries, a small cinema with a bar, several cafes, and a workshop for anyone looking to learn a craft or simply create.

Another Ostrava “miracle” is the PLATO contemporary art gallery, which is divided into two parts — the former hobby market and the historic slaughterhouse. By the way, the restoration of the slaughterhouse building is a candidate for this year’s best architectural achievement in Czechia! In addition to modern visual art, at PLATO you can visit a café with a hydroponic farm, a bistro, a cinema, or permaculture gardens.

Brno, Mecca of Design

Art. Design. Fashion. Robot.

Czechia’s second largest city offers many places that will ignite your creative energy, and you can find them all right in the center of Brno

Visit the Museum of Decorative Arts and its Art Design Fashion concept to admire the works of Czech designers. It has no equal in scope or quality in Czechia! What’s more, in the DESIGNLAB you can get creative yourself. Grab a coffee at the Robot Café on the way. Why robot? That’s what will serve your drink!

The Moravian Gallery, one of Czechia’s most progressive collection-based institutions, has made Brno a design hub. It houses a collection of applied arts and dozens of examples of Czech design from the last thirty years. Finally, the FAIT GALLERY and café in the amazing industrial interior of former foundries is a must for every modern art fan!
