Discover Spain´s best motorhome camping sites

Spain boasts exceptional motorhome destinations, where every route is filled with outstanding rest areas and campsites offering full amenities, all while embracing a spirit of responsible travel.

The Grand Tour of Catalonia is a 1,242-mile circular route divided into five sections that starts and ends in Barcelona. The stretch from Lleida to La Seu d`Urgell is one of the best for motorhome trips, year-round. Highlights include: Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park; Val d’Aran; the starry skies of Montsec; the Starlight reserve in the Montsec mountain range; and the UNESCO-listed Romanesque churches of Vall deBoi. This 1,242- mile loop offers a variety of service areas and campsites. The Vielha e Mijaran camper park in the Pyrenees is great for winter sports at resorts such as Boí Taüll and Baqueira Beret.

Cabo de Gata – Níjar Natural Park,  in Almería, features Agua Amarga, a charming seaside town ideal for motorhomes. The Camper Park, less than a mile from the Mediterranean, offers all comforts and access to a beach with clear waters, cliffs, and caves.

In Cadiz, Vejer de la Frontera has a large beach, El Palmar, perfect for relaxing walks. The guarded caravan park, open year-round, accommodates over 150 vehicles and provides all services.

Extremadura is another perfect destination for visiting by camper van, as it is possible to spend the night in more than 30 different towns spread across the region. The easy access for caravans in Extremadura means that its three World Heritage sites are now within reach: CáceresMérida and the Monastery of Guadalupe.

If you’re visiting northern Spain, the province of Araba-Álava in the Basque Country features over a dozen rest areas, including the Elciego motorhome area, open year-round and close to the Rioja Alavesa Wine Route. Here, you can visit the City of Wine, designed by Frank O. Gehry, or explore medieval underground cellars.

In Vitoria-Gasteiz  you can stay at the Lakua camper site or the Ibaia campsite. The area features eight recommended routes to explore the city and its surroundings, such as the Ayala Valley, Zadorra lakes, and Alavesa Mountain, all accessible by public transportation.

Spain offers unique vacation experiences for luxurious glamping, stays in tree houses or lighthouses, as well as traditional camping in places such as the Cíes Islands (Pontevedra)
