Octopus Festival

The Octopus Festival is one of the most famous festivals celebrated in Galicia every summer. Thousands of people come together each year to the village of O Carballiño, in the province of Ourense, to take part in this pilgrimage. It is considered to be one of the biggest gastronomic events in Galicia.

This is the ideal place to discover and taste “pulpo a feira”, one of the best-known dishes from Galicia. During the festival, between 25,000 and 30,000 kilos of octopus are prepared.

But octopus is not the only delicacy to be eaten here. Visitors can taste other specialties from the region, such as “Cea” bread and pies, as well as “Ribeiro” wine, the wine which this region is renowned for.

Adding the musical touch to this special day, participants may enjoy traditional dancing and bag-pipers.
