Where every glass of wine has a story

Slovenia’s rich wine heritage encompasses Maribor’s world-oldest grapevine, Ptuj’s historic cellar with vintages from 1917, and Gornja Radgona’s 150-year tradition of sparkling wine. Climate, soil and tradition weave together in 52 thriving grape varieties, and about 28,000 grape and wine producers annually craft nearly 1,000,000 hectoliters of crisp whites, robust reds, elegant sparkling and memorable orange wines.

Three primary wine regions

With four districts (Vipava Valley, Brda, Karst, and Slovenian Istria), Primorska is the most diverse and most awarded Slovenian wine region. Warm Mediterranean breezes, the bora wind, and iron-rich terra rossa soil shapes wines of remarkable depth.

Podravje is the largest wine-growing region, located in the eastern part of the country, boasting sunny hillsides that are among the world’s top 4% of the  best vineyard sites. Ancient Roman roots and a continental climate support refined whites and sparkling wines.

Posavje is best known for Cviček, a light, low-alcohol blend of red and white grapes with a pleasant acidity. Vineyard cottages (zidanice) and underground turnip caves (repnice) add charm to the wine experience.

Experiences Beyond the Glass

Slovenia’s wine culture is as much about moments and stories as it is about vintages and varietals. Beyond the traditional tasting room, exciting experiences invite you to see, hear, feel — and of course, taste — wine in unforgettable ways.

Untouched by light

In Gornja Radgona, one of Slovenia’s sparkling wine capitals, you step into a realm where light is the only thing missing. Guided by experts equipped with night-vision goggles, you descend into pitch-black cellars to taste a sparkling wine crafted and matured in complete darkness, then sealed in 99.8% lightproof glass. Deprived of sight, your senses sharpen: aromas intensify, textures become silkier, and every bubble is a story of purity and patience.

Rock’n’Roll of flavors

Maribor’s wine heritage has a lively twist. Here, in the home of the world’s oldest vineyards, sip sparkling wine made from its grapes to the sound of Slovenian rock music. The rhythm of the music, the sparkle of the wine, and the city’s rebellious spirit come together in a tasting that’s equal parts cultural homage and modern celebration — a toast to tradition with a side of attitude.

Intiniti wine bliss

In Brda, experience a three-hour journey that engages body, mind, and palate. Starting with a tranquil walk through terraced vineyards and orchards, the tour culminates in a guided tasting of Motnik wine, a ritual drink rooted in the heritage of Old Believer communities.

Wine Safari

Jump into a jeep and explore Brda’s rolling hills. You’ll pause to sample local wines and olive oils, learn about the region’s brick-red soil, and hear tales of the ingenious “smuggling” routes that once crossed the nearby Italian border. This experience blends adventure, history and flavor — a reminder that wine is as much about the land as the bottle.
