Exploring cities in a different way

Exploring Polish cities in an environmentally friendly way is easier than ever! Thanks to excellent cycling infrastructure, modern public transportation, and water-borne options, you can explore Poland in an environmentally conscious way.

Public transportation

Getting to know Poland’s largest cities thoroughly is easy, with efficient public transportation based increasingly on low-emission vehicles. The public network facilitates access to both well-known sites and lesser-known ones worth seeking out!

  1. Warsaw has a metro, trams and electric buses make it easier to travel without a car.
  2. Kraków’s extensive tram network connects all important tourist attractions.
  3. Wrocław is easy to visit, with trams running through all its districts.
  4. Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopo share an SKM (Fast Urban Railway), that provides fast travel throughout the Tri-City.
  5. Poznań’s trams and electric buses enable fast, green city travel.

Touring by bicycle

Urban cycling infrastructure across Poland is growing steadily, making bike-based sightseeing more convenient than ever.

  1. Warsaw’s bike paths run along the Vistula River, allowing quick access to Wilanów, and all the way to Kampinoski National Park.
  2. Kraków’s bike trail along the Vistula River to the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec is very popular, as are the trails to Nowa Huta.
  3. In Wrocław, you can easily reach Centennial Hall, Szczytnicki Park and Hydropolis Science Center by bike.
  4. Poznań offers a picturesque route around Lake Malta and a bike route to Rogalin, where you can admire famous oaks that are centuries old.
  5. Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia have a well-developed network of coastal bike paths; you can travel between cities, admiring a view of the sea!

Thanks to city bike-sharing systems such as Veturilo in Warsaw, LajkBike in Kraków, WRM (Wrocław City Bike) in Wrocław, Nextbike in Poznań or Mevo in the Tri-City, moving around by bike is even easier. You can rent a bike in one part of the city and drop it off in another. More and more city rental companies also offer electric bicycles, too.

Explore Polish cities by ferry

Ferries offer not only practicality but also a special chance to admire historical landmarks from the water.

  1. In Warsaw, summer ferries give quick access to both banks of the Vistula River.
  2. In Gdańsk, ferries run between the city center and the Westerplatte Peninsula and Sobieszewo Island, offering an interesting alternative to travel by road.
  3. Wrocław’s ferry crossings over the Oder River making exploring the islands and visiting the city zoo easier.
  4. Kraków offers water transport from the city center to Tyniec, so you can combine sightseeing with a relaxing cruise on the Vistula!
  5. Szczecin also has numerous ferries that facilitate sightseeing in both the city and the surrounding area.

Regardless of your choice between bike, tram, electric bus or ferry, Poland offers numerous opportunities to travel comfortably and responsibly.
