Chemnitz: spotlight on culture and industry

No other city in Germany epitomizes the term “city of modernity” quite like Chemnitz. Having grown up during the industrial revolution, the city still radiates the influence of cultural and architectural modernity today, with its unique blend of historical buildings and cutting-edge urban spaces. With the prestigious title “European Capital of Culture 2025”, Chemnitz steps into the international spotlight, presenting its vibrant fusion of culture, innovation, and industrial history. The city is ready to showcase its dynamic transformation to the world!

New UNESCO Sites: Schwerin Castle & Herrnhut

Germany’s rich cultural and architectural heritage is now further celebrated with the addition of two new UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Schwerin Castle, a stunning example of romantic historicism, sits within a picturesque lake landscape. Its towers, golden domes, and sparkling battlements make it an architectural gem. Once the residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, it symbolizes royal history and beauty.

In Saxony, Herrnhut earned the UNESCO designation for its Moravian Church settlements. Famous for the “Herrnhut Star”, the progenitor of all paper Christmas star ornaments, it draws visitors interested in the church’s history. A visit to the manufactory and museum is recommended to explore the town’s heritage.

These two remarkable sites invite you to experience special treasures of Germany’s cultural landscape.
