Hostels have evolved and are a great way to meet new people...
Hostels are a great option for backpackers and budget-minded travellers of all ages. The International Youth Hostel Card provides access to a network of thousands of hostels across Europe. The card is free if you're under 18, and costs only a small amount if you're 18 or older. Room sizes vary, accommodating from one to more than four people. Bathroom facilities usually are shared, although sometimes you can get a private room with a WC and bath en suite (in the room). Amenities also vary and may include linens, laundry rooms, lounges and communal spaces, kitchens, Internet access, international phones and bike rentals, and lockers to secure your personal belongings.
University dormitories are another affordable option for accommodation. They are increasingly available when students are on vacation during the summer or winter breaks. Your stay may include access to the cafeteria and possibly use of other on-campus facilities for an additional fee.
