Winter Sports in the Alps

The Alps offer skiing and all manner of winter sports at some of the world’s most renowned peaks and ski resorts. The Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Mt Triglav, Kitzbuehl, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen are just a few of the stellar winter sport centers just waiting for your inner snow bunny to emerge.

The snow-white scenery of the Dolomites is the ideal destination for those who love skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, climbing, snowshoeing and trekking at all levels of ability. This region has internationally famous ski resorts, like Madonna di Campiglio, Gardena Valley with its well-knows Selva Val Gardena, Ortisei and Santa Cristina, Fassa Valley with Canazei and Moena, the Marmolada range, San Martino di Castrozza: a magic realm that connects countless slopes in one track for hundreds of kilometers, surrounded by magnificent heights and enchanting landscapes.

There are so many sports to practice on Mount Rosa and its valleys; the three valleys of Ayas, Gressoney and Valsesia have some of Italy’s biggest ski resorts. Cross-country skiing, mountain skiing and snowboarding are favorite activities during snow season

Great weather, unbelievable vertical drops, excellent resorts, amazing cuisine, and great hospitality are just a few of the many reasons to visit Austria for your next vacation.

A perfect Tyrolean town and the world’s most famous ski race, "Hahnenkammrennen", define Kitzbuehel, a major alpine skiing center. Innsbruck works hard to maintain and improve its twin character as a top-class ski area and sophisticated urban center. For all people longing for winter sports fun, the Stubai Glacier is the optimum opportunity! On more than 50 kilometers of ski runs you can thrill to intense downhill skiing, carving and boarding, or slow down for some lower-adrenaline cross-country skiing. The Montafon valley includes 11 villages located at altitudes of 1,969-4,757 ft. with a casual, sporty atmosphere and a varied program of leisure activities, cozy family acomodation and activities, and quiet Alpine villages perfect for relaxing. Yep, winter turns this Alpine valley into one big skiing paradise

Slovenia has something for everyone so you’ll want to return year after year for active winter holidays in the most dazzling mountain scenery. Breath in fresh winter air, memorize heart-lifting sights when you go ski touring surrounded by these Alpine peaks. Delve into snow-white forests and glide across high meadows on your Nordic skis. You can spend going night sledging, skating on natural skating rinks or going to ice hockey matches. Skiing is a deeply embedded tradition in Slovenian culture: as far back as the 17th century, people living on the Bloke plateau developed a special technique for moving skiing on snow using smeče, special skis. The equipment may have changed but the love of skiing is as ardent as ever in Slovenia.

When new snow falls and muffles all other sounds, a peaceful silence descends upon the alpine landscape. Be it snowshoe walking, tobogganing or winter hiking: our winter resorts offer numerous activities that are well worth discovering.
